Harper Farming

Our Produce

We work the land using integrated crop management practices. Our aim is to minimise the use of any chemical in our crop production, many of our crops are grown without the use of pesticides by using various innovative methods.

Cereals

Wheat and Barley

We grow around 200 ha of wheat and barley every season within our rotation. Our aim is to grow Barley for brewing beer, ales, and whiskey, and wheat varieties selected to suit the land, we aim to produce milling wheat for bread making.

Alongside the Vegetable production for the packhouse, we also grow a variety of crops that are sold into the wholesale market. These specialised crops have specific growing requirements including irrigation. To ensure that we have water all year round for these crops we have developed several winter storage reservoirs. These give continuity of water throughout the summer and create great habitats for birds and insects.

Vegetables and Herbs

Spinach, Fenugreek, Saag, Coriander and Dill

Our Cattle

Beef

We breed our cattle on site, and they move around the farm grazing the land. Our aim is to produce our beef on grass and straw fed diets as much as possible. This gives a distinctive flavour and great meat quality. We sell meat through local markets and some direct to shops and other outlets.

Christmas Trees

Trees

Trees are an important asset on our farm, we have planted over 30,000 native trees, creating great environments for birds, insects, and larger invertebrates. As part of our rotation and tree management we grow several areas of Christmas trees, which we love to present to the public during the Christmas Season.
